Hastelloy C276 is the benchmark material for bolting in highly corrosive chemical environments. Its high molybdenum and tungsten content makes it resistant to wet chlorine, hydrochloric acid, sulphuric acid, and oxidising acids — conditions that would cause rapid failure in Inconel or duplex grades. It is commonly specified in fertiliser plants, chemical reactors, scrubber systems, and flue gas desulphurisation units.
